Hold Your Tongue
In our very tongue we hold the power to kill, destroy, distance and erode away the very existence of a person. Our words describe our understanding of something whether it is a person, place or thing and or our conation towards it. The power of our words is stronger than any force on earth. We were given this power for good but some use it to destroy. It’s crazy and hard to believe we could erase the very existence and remembrance of any person. Let me explain...
Imagine someone makes you extremely mad so you decide to tell everyone the negative about that person and shine a negative light towards that person with everyone you come in contact with. So now, not only do you not like this person but everyone you’ve talked to about that person now either doesn’t like them or is leery of them. That person now has an entire army of people against them and may now have no one supporting them. So lost and trapped in these thoughts of malice this person decides they don’t deserve to live and kills themselves. Now you can be considered as a murderer, and because that one thing they said still bothers you, you continue to talk bad about that person and make everyone who feels bad for that person feel bad themselves. Over time the thoughts and memories of that person fade, generations go by and their name and life is forgotten. Suddenly, everyone’s memory of that person, even if they did everything right, saved lives, and did as much good as possible, is all erased. It’s all erased because they provoked your ego and you couldn’t take it. You couldn’t brush it off; you just had to get the upper hand.
On the other hand, your mouth could be the babbling brook of which words of life spring forth. People come to you to draw from your wells the words of wisdom and inspiration of which you freely offer. Your words could be the words that bring life to another’s dried up, dead, and God forsaken land. Your prayers shoot forth ministering angels that go forth and bring healing, deliverance, life, prosperity, salvation, and freedom. Your words could spread life and joy, peace and love, justice and safety. Your words can only do so if you let them. It’s a conscience decision you have to make. How will you use your words today, tomorrow, or next week? Will you let other people determine what kind of water flows from your well?
Sincerely,
A Word Guardian
