Waiting at Locked Doors

Sometimes God puts us in a waiting period. Imagine you’re sitting in a chair and you’re surrounded by doors. Each door different, different colors, styles, some old, some new, some elaborate and ornate, some simple, but they’re all locked. When sitting earnestly awaiting the unknown I call that “The Waiting Period”, and the doors are the doors that God opens and shuts. When God is ready for you to walk through a door He’ll unlock and open it but until then we are to wait. God said, “He works all things for good to those who love the Lord” (Romans 8:28). If one loves God they obey God when He tells them to wait (John 14:15). God is constantly working the Good out for us. Have you ever thought about what’s on the other side of those doors? Here in the natural when a house or building is under construction or renovation the door is locked for your protection. There may be a hole in the ground, nails on the floor, a loose board, or worse. It’s the same in the spiritual. When a door is closed think “Wow, thank you God for going ahead” because maybe He’s fixing the floor, cleaning up the nails, and other stuff so you’re not always walking into a mess but a blessing instead. We sometimes like to force our way into a situation. We get tired of waiting on God and let our natural situation control us rather than waiting on God. So we decide to kick in the door and tell God “NOT LATER, NOW”, we make our own way while we wave our little finger around in the air telling God how to do things, but then when you fall through the hole in the floor and get a nail in your foot, after tripping over that loose board don’t blame God for not warning you or not doing “His Job” blame yourself. God doesn’t bless disobedience, He blesses humility and obedience.

Don’t let outward situations and circumstances determine inward decisions. You may be wondering what are the loose boards, hole in the floor and nails on the ground behind the door in the spiritual and how they correlate to the physical natural world. That’s your terrible job where all the drama is, the situations you put yourself in that is a complete disaster, it’s everything that you forced out of God’s will and out of God’s time. It’s okay to wait, it may be scary, seem crazy, look stupid, but it leads to something much better.

Sincerely,

A Person in Waiting
